The building complex of the Nádasdy castle is an element of vital importance of the town Sárvár. The castle located in the town centre, mostly depicted with its gate tower and arched bridge over the moat, is part of national built heritage. It serves as a venue for Nádasdy Ferenc Museum and at the same time as community and cultural centre of the town. It is advisable to start here a town sightseeing tour, later, the castle serves also as a point of orientation. One can enter the castle across the red brick bridge. The museum entrance can be found in the vaulted hallway of the gateway. Passing the steps, the view of the castle’s main hall unfolds itself, one of the most impressive interiors of Hungarian baroque style. There are scenes from the Old Testament depicted on the frescoes of the sidewalls and battle-scenes on the ceiling. In the museum rooms, there are thematic exhibitions (about history, history of press and cartography, applied arts). The continuously expanding collection and exhibition about hussars is of international importance.

The Sylvester Library and the Cultural Centre can be reached from the pentagonal, enclosed courtyard. The works of domestic and foreign artists and designers can be seen in the temporary exhibitions of ‘Galeria Arcis’ to be found in the castle building.
